These are the following glitches that have been found in Tomodachi Life so far.

Mii[]

Main article: Mii
  • When a Mii wants to introduce a friend to another one, the text says "I'd like to introduce [Main Mii] to somebody... How about [Mii 1]?", they will sometimes say "I'd love" instead of "I'd like".
  • When skipping text by pressing the A button or down on the + control pad, if the player times it right as the Mii is about to say it, they will be heard saying it, but their mouth does not move.
  • When a happy Outgoing Mii gives a treasure or gift to the player, they face off to the side slightly.
  • In the Japanese version, when a Mii needs a bath and they are given Nekomanma, the Mii would be clean close up and the game crashes.
  • When a Mii levels up, the number sometimes will not change, but players can still get the prizes that come with leveling up. Leveling up stops at Level 99.
  • When the player taps a Mii's speech bubble, that Mii will sometimes say "Sometimes I wonder if I have a look-alike too... Weird thought!" If it is the player's look-alike, they obviously have a look-alike.
  • When in a Mii's dream after failing to make up during a fight, a Mii will sometimes begin talking, but the opposite Mii will move their mouth instead.
  • If the player touches or drags a Mii when they are saying one of their mood phrases upon entering their apartment, their face will retain the matching expression and the head will not move until they eat something, their face is pat, or the player leaves.
  • If a Mii is given their super all-time favorite and the cutscene of them blasting into space is interrupted just before the earth is shown, that Mii's feet will still emit flames.
    • After the player feeds a Mii their All-Time Favorite food, the flames will be broken and remain stuck in the middle of the apartment until the former leaves.
  • When a Mii who made another Mii cry is deleted, the remaining Mii may still be seen crying even though they are not supposed to be sad for a long time.
  • If a Mii has feelings for someone, but the Mii they had feelings for got deleted, the former Mii may still be seen acting worried in their apartment.
  • If the player looks into a Mii's apartment window at the right time when they are taking a nap, but they turn around quickly, two "dream bubbles" will strangely appear. One where the Mii's dream bubble originally was, and one above where they moved to. Things will be reset the next time a dream bubble appears.
  • If a Mii enters an apartment after saying their catchphrase, they will possibly pose but not say their catchphrase.
  • If the Miis say something and they are doing something that makes the enter button gray, the enter button will be gray and not be idle. The only way to fix this is to change apartments. This can occur when another Mii is leaving the apartment or if the Mii is putting something away.
  • It's possible that if you rub on a Mii's face while saying their phrase, they will return back to normal instead of doing their given gesture.
  • When a dating or married Mii's relationship is at "Getting along OK", instead of a breakup or worrying about relationship, the Mii will say a thing as their relationships were at orange.
  • After the player chooses to allow the Mii make an action upon giving them a phrase, they cannot go back. Editing the phrase to have no action while saying it does not change permanently, only preview the phrase right after submitting it.
  • Mii name/catchphrase pronunciation glitches/artifacts do not work in the Concert Hall. Entering these letters will make the Mii sing in gibberish (tested only in the PAL version of Tomodachi Life). Enter the following letters in the pronunciation field (of the catchphrase, first, last, and/or nickname) to produce a humorous/strange effect.
    • Unpronounceable name: entering any of the following (without additional text) will make the text-to-speech engine go mute when trying to pronounce the Mii's name (e.g. "My name is [Mii].")
      • é, ä, ö, ï, ø, å and many of the special characters on pages two and three of the alphanumeric characters (ËαЯ/Other tab) (such as č, ķ, ď, dž or ţ - these are rendered as "dot" in the character creation menu, but later not pronounced at all)
  • Longest possible Mii name pronunciation: ẞ is the alphanumerical character with the longest known pronunciation time in Tomodachi Life, as it is pronounced as "ess ess" when not used in a word. Therefore, entering ẞ the maximum number of allowed times can make for the longest known pronunciation of a name, taking about 20 full seconds (first + last name combined) and 7 full seconds (nickname) to pronounce when using the standard adult male voice.
    • û is pronounced as "ow".
  • When a Mii is given food, their reaction will sometimes change. (e.g. a Mii's food reaction used to be "[He/She] really loved it!" may change to "[He/She] didn't like it.")
  • There is a glitch where a female Mii is wearing regular clothes and glitches into a different outfit instead.
  • If a Mii has a dream that utilizes the camera and the 3DS camera is broken, the game will crash.
  • Sometimes if the player touches the stomach of a really short Mii, they can see strange graphical effects in it.
  • If a Mii with the Flower Meadow interior takes a nap, the flowers will come through the mat they are napping on.
  • A glitch can occur during a huge fight where there is no third Mii to calm down the two fighting Miis. It is unknown what causes this glitch, but possible that it occurs due to the third Mii being involved in their own fight.
  • If you skip the text that says "Wanna take a look around?" quickly enough after giving an interior to a Mii, the buttons will not appear and it will become stuck with no option to continue and you will be forced to reset the game.

Town Hall[]

Main Article: Town Hall
  • After connecting with an exchange partner when "Send & Receive" is clicked, the partner waiting to be selected for exchange can still leave, causing the selector to have no partners to exchange with.

Concert Hall[]

Main article: Concert Hall
  • If a solo musical song is played with the "Make it stop!" button being clicked, just after a Mii does the first spin, one or more Mii dancers will slide into their next position.
  • In the Techno song, when the line "I never get sleepy" is finished and the camera moves to "Candy", it is possible to see the Miis in the middle of teleporting.
  • If a Mii is given 'h°' to sing and the singer's voice is high, the mii's voice will glitch, and desyncronize the song. If this is sung in the lyric modifying section and the player exits after the corrupted line is sung, a part of the Miis will corrupt, like eyes, nose outline, glasses, mustaches, etc. Some of the noses or eyes might crash the game if a certain Mii has them. During this state, the game can crash at any moment, like when loading a Mii or their Apartment when they are in it. When the game crashes, the musical subtitles will read "error" and a random Mii voice line will play.[citation needed]
    • The game could also freeze and softlock while loading a song completely consisting of 'h°'.
    • A mii with a low voice could crash the entire 3DS trying to sing 'h°'.

Mii Apartments[]

Main article: Mii Apartments
  • On rare occasions, a Mii will ask for an Age-o-matic or Kid-o-matic although they are currently dating another Mii. If the player gives the Mii the Age-o-matic or Kid-o-matic, that Mii will reject.
    • The same thing happens when a Mii requests to use an Age-o-matic or Kid-o-matic, and the player changes their age to the requested age in their profile, they will still request the item.
  • Upon pressing the Enter button while a Mii's cat is walking, the cat will be in the idle pose but move forward and turn without the walking animation.
  • Whenever a Mii is putting on makeup, the game will lag before the Mii's eyes change.
  • At a right angle while looking at Prehistoric interior, the volcano would turn black.
  • During the Match mini game, if you touch a square twice, the animation will instantly end.
  • If a Mii is wearing a large hat, the hat can clip through the ground if the Mii is exercising or rolling on the ground.

Mii Homes[]

Main article: Mii Homes
  • When the baby mini-game for a one or two-day-old baby is about to start, and one parent tells that their baby "just won't stop crying" or the player enters themselves, they can see the outside boundaries of the home below the Miis. This does not happen when a baby mini-game for the top screen is about to start, because the top screen is wider than the bottom screen, and the outside boundaries below the Miis are not seen.
  • During the last scene when a baby is fully-grown, tapping the screen as the father says "Take this as a memento." will cause the father to give the baby album early.
  • While the player is babysitting a Mii's child, there is a glitch if they tap on the screen right as one of the parents begins to talk, the game will become stuck upon the babysitting screen, with no way for the player to exit, except for exiting the game itself.
  • If the player presses the Peekaboo button and presses it quickly again while saying boo, there will be a blank text box.
  • If you make the child laugh, play Peekaboo with it quickly enough and do it long enough for it to become tired, sometimes it will laugh but have closed eyes or a neutral expression on its face as it falls over, and sometimes the laugh sound will play over the baby being tired with the purple bubbles around its head.
  • A Stage 4 child sometimes may cry. The only way to fix this to leave them alone for a while until they stop. When the babysit button is pressed, the child will not be seen crying.
  • Occasionally, the exterior of the Mii Homes will change from cream color to stone.
  • When the player babysits, there is sometimes a lighting error on the babysitting screen.
  • When both Miis in a house are dreaming, the player has to select which dream to view. If one of the Miis has a problem, the window often displays an incorrect problem or none at all.
  • The dream bubble can be in the wrong location when a couple is sleeping at their house and the player has checked one of the dreams.
  • If a baby is in its first or second stage, and the front camera cannot be accessed, the game will crash.

Port[]

Main article: Port
  • If a player has a traveler from own island running to it with StreetPass ready to receive, and another one that has not arrived yet but will, they will (for a brief moment) see the next Mii's face there after talking to that Mii. The message asking to check the StreetPass will pop up afterward, and after the boat sequence, the second Mii will arrive.
  • When the boats arrive, the game occasionally will lag before or after an explorer is sent away, causing any or all boats left to ignore the remaining explorers.
  • Travelers can somehow be duplicated through an unknown error in StreetPassing. If the duplicated travelers both come to the same island, the game just seems to delete the boat with the second of the duplicates, and the player does not get the import item that was supposed to come with the boat.

Photo Studio[]

Main article: Photo Studio
  • Zooming in on a fully-grown child's head can cause the camera to clip inside.
  • Weird graphics can show up occasionally while changing clothing at least when taking baby photos.

Mii News[]

Main article: Mii News
  • During a news announcement, if the player press the back button or old news button when the screen is transitioning from anything, the button noise will play, but the news will continue.

Hangout locations[]

  • At the café, the stool under the Mii on the left disappears.
  • If the player exits at the right timing during the Photo event at the park, the Mii talks but it is not shown on-screen.
  • While viewing the contents of a mystery bag bought at the night market, the clothes sometimes look a little weird.

Other[]

Outfit glitch

A glitch with the Postal Uniform's hat.

  • After turning off the game, travelers from a previous save file will still be sent through StreetPass. The player will not be able to see where they are but still receive notifications that a traveler has sent a message when they haven't.
  • When the parents of a traveler have finished reading their child's letter sent from an island's campground, the sound of the ocean can sometimes still be heard as they finish reading.
  • Sometimes when receiving a phone call from a Mii wearing the Postal Uniform, the hat can be missing textures.
  • During the Crazy Hair dream, if the player touches the "Don't just stand there!" button and then holds it, the Mii will move but the hair will detach from the Mii's head.
